I might be insane, but I just booked my ticket to the UK for March 1 - March 10 (Air Canada seat sale ends tomorrow if anyone wants to join me - $578 return taxes in!), got 2 tickets to the Libertines at the Brixton Academy (Saturday & Sunday nights) in London & 1 for Belle & Sebastian/ Franz Ferdinand at the Paris Rex the following night (& I'm springing for a night at the Albion_France to see how decadent rockstars live ;) -so its looking like this: possibly Dublin (I so want to see it) & Liverpool (for the Fall), London, Paris, back to London ... I am too excited!

easily amused? (poor Howard Dean) ... weird corporate motivational seminars 2 days a week for the next 4, hosted by a woman who's an odd cross b/w the chicken lady & bette midler. DISC personality assesment ($20 a booklet but here issomething close for free)... I ended up SCID which should be obvious to anyone who knows me. I've got a working furnace again (another $250 later), no more subzero inside ... thinking of crashing the comedy costume party tomorrow night but we'll see ... also in the works: franz ferdinand in Montreal at the end of February & possibly the Libertines in London if I can manage the time off & afford the (mostly sold-out by now) tickets (I hate having to plan *all* of my vacations for the year in January)...

colour tv / death by nostalgia : last Thursday night for hang the dj at reflections (& matt's b-day): phil tells dirty stories, dbn cover outkast (of course;), would like to have stayed to dance for ger. dj set but way too tired (last time for after midnight, the whole thing will now run 9-12 Wednesday night b/c the regulars just don't appreciate it): terrible pics:

it took 5 minutes to walk home from the lotus space on portland (that was a bit of a treat), show was interrupted by police/fire dept (with fire truck, which seemed to excite one young man at our table, he immediately rushed outside with his camera & tripod) : this message will self destruct, the gco (kind of a wannabe weezer, although they did something called "no one likes the plan", starting with about 10 seconds of lit like a monument, couldn't really tell if it was tribute or mockery, ditto the numerous covers -quite competent but it went on a little too long), the mackoids (the sidewalk slutz are probably still playing)...

The cops came a second time after the final band played, and gave "shitface" aka Cory a 430$ fine because the owner of the place wasn't there. They told him that in order for there to ever ever be a show there again, many renovations would have to be done, including building a rearf fire escape, instead of just a patio with no stair case that they were calling a fire escape. The long short of it is that Cory, who is only a wee lad at the age of 16 or maybe 17, has to pay a lot of money, and there will never ever be a show there again.

Horrible end to the week: bella muse is closed (again, claudette has that sad & sordid story ... surprising to me, since the rick of the skins practice space on gottingen used to do that sort of thing quite openly a few years ago, just a block from the police station, and it was something that _and_ apparently did all the time, although they didn't have a neon "open" sign either... it's all too sad, since bella muse is/was the only place in halifax that feels like somewhere else, somewhere larger) ...and it's been decided by a couple of obviously pre-acquainted lawyers that real estate agents/ lawyers aren't responsible for anything to do with the purchase of a house, even though you pay them quite handsomely for this assumption, & that anything you weren't told about is *still* your responsibility (so I'm out $1200) ... none of it seems fair ... what an awful day....

... the oil tank is at about 1/16 (so much for automatic delivery) & I pray I have hot water in the morning. I'm still really ill so the best thing for me is to just go to bed...

Colour TV - JRC says they remind him of an all-boy (ok, I added that part) Jawbox (with distractingly tight t-shirts?, oh if you were there you would know what I mean) ... The Holy Shroud are the best parts of north of america (so I'm no longer *so* saddened by the breakup/reunion) & the plan & how I love listening to mike scream, a short show but oh so good!
