pictures from away, as promised: franz ferdinand in nyc (more pictures here), 1st avenue near hostel, alita/francine/couirey/tal at union square hmv, first class from nyc to TO

& b/c I'm so self-referential, here it is again (from lj): franz ferdinand (x3) -my favorite being webster hall (yay craig's list & cindy from the instore who'd agreed to switch tickets) as we were practically up front, with embarrassingly unobstructed views of Bob (poor lad, it felt like we were practically on top of him) & Alex (impossibly tight polyester shirt & pants but impossible to look away). I think I have seen Alex play before (amphetameanies at king tuts in glasgow in june 2000 at the height of my B&S obsession & crush on Mick Cooke) although I'll have to scan the picture to confirm (?). My feet still hurt from dancing & Nick does look just like the young Charlie Burchill although apprently I'm not the first person who thinks so. I did go to the afterparty, spent most of my time perched on a giant bed listening to the sort of bad techno/dance/ambient (apparently chosen by the band?) usually played in pretentious clubs serving $8 cocktails (all I remember was TRIO's dadada, which really wasn't typical of what was played). I did run in to Bob at the bar & told him the story of having missed the band when they cancelled Paris in March (he was a little puzzled but very sweet & had a lovely shy sort of smile). Daniel Interpol was also around, but was surrounded. Ended up walking the 10 or so blocks back to the hostel at 1:30am (had spent all my money one horrendously expensive drink) cursing my bleeding heels

.... & this week's mission is to find David Duchovny, who is apparently in town this week shooting a film (only 7 years too late)
